Welcome to Over the Moon Bookstore & Artisan Gallery!

Welcome to our website! Have a look around; you'll find information about who we are, see photos of the store (to entice you to visit us), and hear about upcoming events. You can get book recommendations and even browse the gallery. Some of our jewelry, pottery, artwork and other artisan items will be featured here, though we hope you'll come in to see it all for yourself, as our inventory of beautiful things is always growing and changing.

You can even order from us online, and choose whether you'd like to pick up your order in the store or have it shipped directly to your door. You get the convenience of online shopping while supporting your independent community bookstore. In most cases, if we place an order before 11 am, we can have it in a day or two. We've even got books for easy download to your digital reader -- just click on the Google ebooks widget over there on the right!

And hey, if you don't live in Crozet and are missing your own local indie shop, we'd be delighted to fill that gap. Order from us online or on the phone and we deliver, just like the other guys.

We're glad you've discovered our website, and we hope to see you in person at the store soon!

Meet the Author! Corban Addison, author of A WALK ACROSS THE SUN

06/21/2012 6:00 pm
06/21/2012 7:00 pm
America/New York

John Grisham gave Addison's novel his very first personal endorsement, calling it "beautiful in its story and also important in its message." Spanning three continents and two cultures, A WALK ACROSS THE SUN tells the story of two teenage Indian girls who are abducted after a tsunami leaves them orphaned, and who are then forced into the sex trade in Mumbai. A Washington, DC attorney, facing tragedies of his own, makes it his personal mission to rescue them, setting the stage for a deadly showdown with an international network of ruthless criminals. This debut novel chronicles an unforgettable journey into the darkest -- and most resilient--corners of the human heart.

Please join us as Corban Addison reads from and signs copies of his "chilling, suspensefu, and powerful"* new novel.

Meet the Author! Anne McKeithen, author of LISTENING TO COLOR:BLACKS & WHITES IN ABERDEEN, NORTH CAROLINA

06/05/2012 6:00 pm
06/05/2012 7:00 pm
America/New York

McKeithen studies a small southern town from its origins in the late 19th century to today. She has interviewed individuals about their experiences with race -- when schools and society were legally segregated --  as well as during and after desegregation, to recreate a real feeling for life lived in black and white. Her study also explores the municipal gerrymandering called "underbounding," where towns exclude low-wealth, minority communities from town services. This look at the continuing struggle for racial justice has universal relevance.
